Deputy Geographic Information Officer for Enterprise Projects is responsible for managing a team of GIS analysts and a GIS managers who perform high-level analytical work, complete high-priority projects across an array of domains and subject matter, and maintain components of the city’s GIS enterprise meeting 24/7 service level agreements. This is a position that requires strong leadership and technical skills and experience to successfully initiate and complete projects in collaboration with technical and non-technical teams and contractors. A successful Deputy GIO will inspire stakeholders across multiple city departments and agencies, including commissioners and elected officials, to act on complex problems and successfully complete achieve results on time and on budget.
The Deputy GIO will oversee administration of multiple ArcGIS Online organizations; enterprise and public data publishing processes including online metadata database administration; creation and maintenance of data models for decision support across multiple departments; creation of sophisticated Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) for use in analytical tools, applications and AGO web app builder sites and CARTO web map apps; setup and supervision of mobile data collection projects; and adherence to standards, and maintenance of landmarks and basemaps datasets. Two high-priority projects include creation of the city’s Next Generation E-911 address point geodatabase and reconciliation procedures with multiple stakeholders and administration of a multi-user editing environment to maintain citywide planimetric data owned by different departments.
The Deputy GIO is a leadership position requiring project management savvy, strong communication and engagement skills, and technical expertise. The deputy will work closely with Deputy GIO for Architecture and Planning and the City’s Open Data team. This position reports directly the Chief Geographic Information Officer.
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing GIS environment management at an enterprise level with demonstrated use of ArcGIS Server version 10.x or higher, multi-user geodatabase editing on a commercial RDBMS, Portal or ArcGIS Online, and use of Python or other scripting tools to design and manage ETL processes for 24/7 production environment.
Minimum of 3 years of experience demonstrating project management and staff leadership capabilities.
Completion of a Master’s Degree program at an accredited college or university, which has included major course work in computer science, information science, geography, GIS or a closely related field.
