Title: GIS Senior Analyst

Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for a GIS Senior Analyst, who utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to provide a better understanding of certain variables in a given geographic location. This person will need to work with, respond to, and take direction from the GIS Senior Project Manager. Primary duties include data acquisition and creation, supervising spatial analysis and mapping projects, updating and maintaining databases through automated processes, working with multiple disparate datasets, application development and server administration. This position serves as a mentor for multiple student interns by training them in GIS software and map creation, and providing helpful and constructive feedback on their products. The successful applicant will report to the Washington College GIS Senior Project Manager, and is located in the GIS office in Chestertown, Maryland.
Design, develop, create, and maintain databases, maps, and other related analysis products.
Develop and maintain web applications and dashboards.
Administration of Microsoft servers during day-to-day operations.
Establish and update processes to include automation, higher efficiency, and better accuracy.
Participate in training, mentoring and monitoring the professional development of GIS staff and students.
Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) on most products.
Keep all project information current and organized to assure accessibility to others.
Provide technical support of GIS equipment, software, data, and products.
Oversee and train multiple student interns, in addition to GIS staff on the same project.
Provide development, maintenance, implementation, training and support of GIS and related systems.
Attend and present at professional conferences and meetings.
Present or hold workshops at professional conferences and meetings.
Masterís degree preferred, Bachelorís degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required. A minimum of 2 yearsí experience working in GIS field with previous management and supervisory experience of junior personnel required.
Experience and Background:
Experience working with and leading a small team of analysts.
Knowledge and skill in operation of GIS equipment, including computer hardware, GPS, and plotter/printer setup.
Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Excel, and relational databases.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment, establish methodology to complete a project, and produce final products within a given timeframe.
Possess good analytical and problem solving skills.
Possess strong communication and leadership skills.
Interest in expanding knowledge of GIS for traffic safety analyses.
Ability to pass a Maryland and FBI criminal records background check.
