Position Description:

Primary Function: Optimal Geo is searching for Scanning Technicians. In this role you will be responsible for the scanning of physical records to digital formats provided by clients for reproduction or archival purposes. The scanning technician will be required to comply with the individual requirements of each client and project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs conversion and organization of various documents into electronic/digital format.
• Ensure adherence to procedures for the collecting, batching, cataloging and archiving of documents and materials.
• Operates scanners and other imaging equipment;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and other software applications
• Problem solving skills.
• Good organizational, communication and time management skills.
• Good record keeping skills.
• Military experience and experience with as-builts is desirable.
Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of document or records management systems experience using electronic/digital reproduction equipment.
• Properly handle fragile and rare archival materials.
• Support the preparation of materials for scanning.
• Scan print, photographs, artwork, etc.; correct color and manipulate images as required using provided software; burn digital images to DVD.
• Record technical, item, and structural metadata in a spreadsheet.
• Ability to work effectively with supervision and as a part of a team.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly handling hardcopy documents and other office productivity machinery
• The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
• Must be able to identify and distinguish colors, distances and spatial relationships.
• This position will require travel around the Southeastern United States 80-90% of the time.
