Summary Description

InterDev is excited to offer a unique internship experience to the right candidate. There will be no fetching of coffee (except your own, if you want). Instead, due to InterDevís position as a private company that provides contracted services to local government entities, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in distinct environments. Additionally, you will have the chance to be involved with InterDevís Location Intelligence Lab (LIL). The LIL is a research and development focused team within InterDevís GIS Department that specializes in identifying creative uses of geospatial technology.

It is our goal to largely align your skills and interests with compatible projects within our organization. However, you will also be provided time for experimentation and will be encouraged to develop a unique LIL project. This project will be supervised by your manager who will assist you in scoping, allocating resources for, and delivering the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Interpret detailed plans, photographs, maps, and legal descriptions including addresses, roads, stormwater systems, and city assets.

Assist with development and maintenance of GIS data resources to be utilized for public access.

Perform spatial analyses and create information products utilizing GIS geoprocessing tools.

Assist in user experience testing of web applications.

Data analysis outside of traditional GIS software packages (e.g. R, Tableau, TensorFlow).


A passion for GIS and data science

Knowledge in mapping and database software packages such as ArcGIS and QGIS

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot software problems

Ability to follow written and verbal directions, prioritize a list of tasks, and communicate progress and results

Excellent written and oral communications skills


Bachelors or Masters degree, in-progress, preferred

Regular attendance at meetup groups, conferences, or other industry events

Volunteer experience a plus

Classification: Part-time, non-exempt
Salary Grade/Level/Family/Range: $15/hr
Reports to: Location Intelligence Lead

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position; possible hours of work and days are generally Mon Ė Fri, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.*


Travel, if applicable, is primarily locally during the business day.
