Join Sanborn’s award-winning team! Sanborn is looking for a GIS Archaeological Data Technician to work onsite with our federal government client in Carson City, NV where the primary responsibilities will be to verify and correct GIS data, and produce new GIS data for missing records; create digital scans of cultural archaeological site forms with a prefix of 26CH currently missing form digital internal database; produce a final record of all cultural archaeological sites and the status of their GIS data; and digitize missing data contained on hardcopy inventory and sites maps into internal database and work with GIS specialists to print a new set of hardcopy reference maps.
This is for a 6 month position (with a possibility for extension) located in Carson City, NV.

REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s degree in geography, archeology, anthropology, ecology, natural resources management, wildlife biology, botany, forestry, fisheries, soils, etc. from an accredited university.
•Minimum of one (1) year of directly related experience
•Demonstrated efficiency, accuracy and organization
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to work well within a team environment

Preference will be given to candidates with;
•Experience in ArcGIS
•Knowledge of concepts and principles of geospatial data management
•Coursework in anthropology, history, or archaeology.

TASKS:
The candidate shall conduct the following tasks:
VERIFY, CORRECT, AND ADD CULTURAL RESOURCE DATA
•The geospatial data for sites in the database will be checked against source documents and corrected when necessary. Any missing attribute data will be added to the database from the source documents.
•Confirm that the existing 26CH site information is correct, enter any missing or incomplete attribute information, or correct incorrect or outdated information as necessary.
•Updating up to approximately 3,200 site records.
•As site information is verified, corrected, or appended to the internal GIS database, it must also be recorded on a tracking spreadsheet of all completed tasks related to the clean-up project.

CREATION OF ARCHIVAL-QUALITY DIGITAL SCANS OF ALL CULTURAL RESOURCE REPORTS AND ASSOCIATED DOCUMENTS
•As source documents are used to verify or correct data in the internal GIS database, the records missing from the digital archive will be scanned, using Government-furnished equipment, to create a digital record, as appropriate.
•Scans will be identified by their site number, and stored on a secure government server.

PRODUCE A FINAL RECORD OF ALL COMPLETED PROJECT WORK
•The final record must contain the identifying information of each archaeological site involved in the clean-up project.
•The final record will track the status in the NVCRIS database of each archaeological site involved in the clean-up project.
•The final record will state whether a digital copy of each archaeological site has been created.

DIGITZE AND VERIFY CCDO HARDCOPY INVENTORY/SITE MAPS
•Digitize, as necessary, and verify all data contained on hardcopy inventory and sites maps into internal database.
•Coordinate with GIS specialists to print a new set of hardcopy reference maps.

CANDIDATE PERSONNEL SECURITY AND SUITABILITY REQUIREMENTS
The following forms and inquiries, or their equivalent, will be used to initiate the credentialing process:
•OPM Standard Form 85 or 85P

•National Criminal History Check (NCHC)
•Release to Obtain Credit Information
•PIV card application

If selected to fill the position, a candidate would be required to pass a drug screen and satisfy the requirements of a National Criminal History Check (NCHC) to verify the identity of the individual applying for clearance and to determine the individual’s suitability for the position.
