THE POSITION:

The Software Analyst I/II is responsible to perform a variety of professional application support, business process analysis and maintenance duties including specialties such as Software, GIS, Web and Database Support; to perform application support and maintenance, business/workflow analysis, application integration, report development, testing processes, and project management; and to maintain existing third-party applications and/or develop new service delivery programs and solutions.

The current vacancy is on the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team. Software Analysts are allocated to multiple divisions within the Information Technology Department. The list established with this recruitment will be utilized to fill the existing vacancy and any additional Software Analyst I/II vacancies that occur throughout the life of the list.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Software Analyst I

Experience:

None is required. One year of experience performing technical level application support and/or development is highly desirable.

Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business information systems, computer science, geographic information systems or a closely related field.

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must pass a P.O.S.T. level background investigation for clearance to work on Police Department information systems prior to appointment.

Software Analyst II

Experience:

Two years of responsible experience equivalent to Software Analyst I with the City of Modesto. Depending on assignment, focused experience in general software analysis, GIS analysis or Web analysis may be required.

Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business information systems, computer science, geographic information systems or a closely related field.

License or Certificate:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates must pass a P.O.S.T. level background investigation for clearance to work on Police Department Information Systems prior to appointment.
