geocgi is looking for a GIS/CAD Specialist to assist a federal client near the DC metropolitan area. The candidate will assist with creating, updating, and maintaining databases, attributes, maps, and graphs using both GIS and CAD software and other related equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for the integration of GIS and CAD file formats and application of standards to new and existing geospatial formats and drawings. Additional required experience for the Combined GIS/CAD Specialist includes:

• Conducting geospatial data modeling, analysis, and data manipulation
• Creating, updating, and maintaining geodatabases
• Compiling and integrating geographic data from a variety of sources
• Using geospatial interoperability tools to exchange data in common formats such as Esri Shapefiles, DGN and DWG CAD formats, and XML-based exchange formats like LandXML
• Managing and configuring data and metadata to common geospatial standards such as Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
• Analyzing geographic statistics to incorporate into documentation and reports
• Creating, modifying, and converting CAD drawings
• Performing quality assurance compliance reviews to ensure both CAD and GIS standards
• Repairing or correcting non-compliant data elements for CAD and GIS files to comply with established data standards
• Filing and indexing drawings into a standardized repository
• Gathering data and other requirements to assess and update CAD drawings to complete drafting assignments

The following are requirements of the potential candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Urban Planning, Cartography, or related field OR Minimum 1 year of GIS experience using Esri’s ArcGIS software AND minimum 2 years of CAD experience with the Autodesk suite of products
• Experience with AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, and Esri ArcGIS software
• Proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel and Access.

The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:

• Certifications (GISP, ACU)
• Preferred 2+ years’ related professional experience
• Knowledge of SDSFIE and AEC standards
• ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS
• Ability to work independently and proactively, as well as on a team
• Excellent writing and communication skills
