Position Description:

geocgi is looking for a Senior GIS Specialist to assist a federal client near the DC metropolitan area with the maintenance of their geospatial data and system. This position will be responsible for maintaining the client’s geospatial system to include management, maintenance, and deployment of software and hardware associated with the geospatial portfolio. The candidate will also be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining databases, attributes, maps, and graphs using GIS software and related equipment. The candidate will execute the responsibilities of a Senior GIS Specialist, which include:

• Maintenance and implementation of software and hardware necessary for the deployment of a geospatial system on a DoD network
• Working closely and actively with stakeholders to identify system requirements
• Providing recommendations on system design for enhanced geospatial or integration capabilities
• Compiling geographic data from a variety of sources including surveys, imagery, databases, censuses, and existing maps and documentation
• Supporting data exchange, consolidation, and linkage with a variety of geospatial and CAD file types such as Esri Shapefiles, geodatabases, MapInfo TAB, DGN and DWG, and XML-based exchange formats such as LandXML
• Managing and configuring geospatial data and metadata to common geospatial standards such as Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) for multiple DoD sites
• Updating geospatial data to support real property reconciliation, Exterior Utilities Master Plans, and dig permits
• Accepting and completing customer service requests (cartographic, data, or analysis) in a timely manner
• Performing geospatial modeling/analysis for use in reports and white papers
• Developing white papers, training materials, and Standard Operating Procedure documents

The following are requirements of the potential candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3 to 7 years of experience providing day-to-day operational or project geospatial support
• 5+years’ experience with ArcGIS software and applications
• Experience with CAD software such as Bentley MicroStation
• Experience with data interoperability between Esri Shapefiles, DGN/DWG files, and XML-based exchange formats
• Proficiency with MS Office suite including Excel and Access.
• Knowledge of SDSFIE and AEC standards

The following are desired capabilities and experience of the potential candidate:

• Certifications (GISP, Esri, Security +, PMP)
• ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and Portal for ArcGIS
• Intermediate to advanced skills using Python to automate activities
• Ability to work independently and proactively, as well as on a team
• Excellent writing and communication skills
