The Facilities Information Management Technician will provide technical expertise and support services for Facilities Information Resource's space and geographic information systems management; includes providing assistance with database administration, evaluating user needs, utilizing data collection equipment, providing technical guidance to staff, performing analysis, updating database records and creating reports. Additionally, assisting Facilities Information Resources staff with customer inquiries such as print request, records research, map development and reports.

Under the supervision of the Facilities Information Management Coordinator this position will work closely with Facilities Information Resources FIM Specialist and GIS Specialist to assist with daily operations related to the University's space and geographic information system (GIS) records. This will involve maintenance of the University's Space & GIS databases, global positioning systems (GPS) data collection and computer aided design drafting (CADD) for documenting and maintaining the University's infrastructure and space records.


1. Assist with administration of the University's space records database.
2. Perform on-site field verifications of campus facilities.
3. Research internal facility records to compile data for maintaining the Universities Space records.
4. Maintain active projects list for space management.
5. Perform GPS data collection and field verifications of campus facilities.
6. Assist with administration of the University's GIS records database.
7. Document and revise database management, software application processes, operational tasks, and equipment procedures as needed.
8. Train students and staff on database management, software application processes, operational tasks, and equipment as needed.
9. Coordinate with facility managers, engineers and project coordinators as needed for data administration, sharing and collection.
10. Assume related additional duties to further the mission of the unit.




Two years of progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession. College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year, 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years.



Demonstrated experience working with one of the following, Autodesk AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop or ESRI ArcGISPro.


Experience working with Archibus space management software.
Experience with GPS data collecting equipment.
Experience working with Microsoft Office suite (ie: EXCEL, WORD, POWER POINT and VISIO).


This is a full-time Civil Service Information Technology Technical Associate position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
