Position Description:

Purpose Of Position
Performs analysis for GIS projects. Manipulates geometric data and tabular databases to perform assigned GIS work.

Essential Functions
• Gathers, analyzes, and integrates spatial data.
• Performs complex analysis on spatial data along with other datasets or tabular databases.
• Meets with users to define data needs, project requirements, and determine required output.
• Evaluate and analyze traffic/transportation data and assist MPO with all related GIS needs.
• Assist Senior GIS Analyst with training and development of other GIS technical staff.
• Creates datasets using COGO, scanning/heads-up digitizing, or photo interpretation as needed.
• Writes scripts and simple programs to automate repetitive task or streamline processes.
• Installs and maintains GIS software on City computers.
• Must have vast knowledge of and be self-sufficient with analysis processes utilizing ArcGIS.
• Must have good analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Must be able to sit and turn 8 hrs. daily; walk and stand 6 hrs. daily; bend and stoop up to 2 hrs. daily; lift and carry 20 lbs. up to 2 hrs. daily; push 10 lbs. up to 2 hrs. daily; pull 10 lbs. up to 1 hr. daily; kneel up to 1 hr. daily.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Planning or related discipline or any equivalent combination of experience and education. GIS Certification is preferred. Must have three to five years experience working with and manipulation of databases using MS Access, MS SQL Server, or Oracle databases with three years of progressive experience with ArcGIS. Must have experience working with GPS and the implementation of that data into ArcGIS. Must be familiar with scripting using Python, VBA, or programming experience with Visual Studio. Must have experience using computer systems, plotters, printers, networking equipment and GPS.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in glace or each year of college required in the job description, Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Norge, and eight years of relevant experience will he considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree, Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.

The City of Tyler Policy states Persons under eighteen (18) years of age may be employed in temporary or regular part-time positions, if they furnish the City with a minor’s release (Form 2-2) and are approved by the City Manager.

No person under eighteen (18) years of age will be employed in any position requiring the operation of a City motorized vehicle.

Salary range dependent on qualifications - $48,000 to $77,000.
