Salary Range: $87,847 - $131,770

Position Summary
Providing technology leadership and system administration responsibilities for the County’s GIS
Architectural Enterprise. Responsible for all aspects of departmental and enterprise GIS systems
including system design, integration, deployment and management. Perform analysis to support
evaluation of system defects or to develop requirements for new functionality; triage and troubleshoot
complex user-reported system defects; assist in various system trouble shooting and correction efforts
including analysis, verification and validation of issues and fixes across multiple client engagements while
demonstrating a high level of subject matter expertise.
Essential Functions
Provide GIS design, integration and operational support for a variety of server platforms which
may include server hardware, storage and backup complexes, operating systems and peripherals
that support critical County-wide systems.
Perform full range of technical and analytical functions for critical back-end application and
database system implementation and operational support.
Participate in technical strategic planning and implementation of new data center technologies to
assure County’s system availability criteria are continually met.
Manage GIS projects, working collaboratively with multiple teams, peers, and senior leadership.
Design technical solutions to meet specific application requirements.
Provide digital support for software datasets, and essential base mapping data in everyday and
emergency situations.
Provide critical system analysis, expertise, and operational support for all County GIS data
networks including networking hardware, operating systems, cabling and peripherals that support
mission critical County GIS systems.
Participate in technical strategic planning and implementation of new data center technologies to
assure County’s system availability criteria are continually met.
Design technical solutions to meet specific application requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of six years of progressively responsible technical systems experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related fields of Computer Science or Geographic Information Systems
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Licenses and Certifications
May require a North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in existing and emerging GIS technologies
Implementing proven IT/GIS strategies for platform architecture
Proficient in DNS and Port Assignment, and firewall policy management related to ArcGIS Servers and ArcGIS Enterprise
Proficient in ArcGIS Enterprise and Server Software installs and Upgrades
Broad-based information technology and trends
Esri Enterprise ArcGIS Platform Deployment and Administration (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS
Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, etc.) and other supporting
GIS software packages
Successful Monitoring of ArcGIS Enterprise Infrastructure
Fundamental Geodatabase Management Principles is a plus
Experience with Python Scripting and the ArcGIS API for Python Library is a plus
Master's degree in related field preferred
