Position Description:

The City of Olathe Public Works Department is actively seeking an individual with excellent attention to detail to assist in verifying the location/identification of water valves. Looking for someone to take on the challenge of identifying the correct location for valves that may have multiple representations in our GIS and As-Built library. We can offer a mix of indoor/outdoor work for those that like sunshine.

The intern will be immersed in the daily workflow with multiple groups and crews, as well as be engaged working both inside and outside. Consider joining us for quality work experience and the pride of making a better community through managing assets in a responsible way.

Key Responsibilities:
•Review as-built drawings / compare to existing GIS data
•Verify the location of valve assets in the field.
•Use a GPS to collect updated asset location and identification.
•Help review our work order backlog for valve location

Experience & Education:

Experience: Entry level experience in GIS, Civil Engineering, Construction Management.

Education: College student pursuing a degree in construction management or related field. Good computer skills required. Past work or education using GIS preferred.

Supplemental Information:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Background investigation, pre-employment physical and drug screen required.
