WSP is currently initiating a search for an Asset Management Consultant with our Asset Management Business Advisory team in our Sacramento office to help deliver the California High Speed Rail program.
The Role and The Group – Advisory Services
Our US Advisory Services team is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Asset Management Consultant to both support and drive the continued growth in our Asset Management Advisory practice as well as play an important role in the California High Speed Rail Asset Management Office. You will join an established team that is a leader in providing management consulting, finance, and business improvement services across the country and beyond.
The position will work full-time on the California High Speed Rail program within the Authority’s Asset Management Office in the role of Asset Management Analyst. The Asset Management Analyst reports directly to our Asset Management Office Lead and is responsible for working across the Authority team, consultants and contractors to establish a record of the constructed assets and data associated with the management of the assets.
The Asset Management Analyst is responsible for defining the asset information requirements and geospatial data requirements, developing the asset information capture process and capturing information on assets through construction, testing and operations phases. The individual will work with contractors to ensure data provided is accurate and is consistent with the AMO Asset Information Standards. The Asset Management Analyst will undertake audits to ensure data accuracy and manage the upload process to the AMO’s Enterprise Asset Management System – Maximo.
The AMO is often tasked with supporting the Authority on asset related data collection exercises, strategic planning related to the future stewardship of the CHSR fleet, facilities and infrastructure and other activities to support the Authority transition to future operational state. While the primary focus of the role is to support data capture and data management, it is expected that the Asset Management Analyst also contributes to the ongoing success of the AMO and overall program as required.
WSP is continuing to develop its AMO-as-a-service capability. This role therefore has further opportunities nationwide which will be discussed at interview.

The Program - California High Speed Rail
The California High-Speed Rail program is the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. It will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.
The CHSR Authority awarded WSP the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team. WSP have established an Asset Management Office (AMO) to manage the on-boarding of the constructed rail infrastructure and to oversee the development of a digital record of the constructed assets.
• Knowledge and experience working with rail infrastructure is preferred.
• While experience working with Maximo is not required (training will be provided) understanding of EAM systems, asset hierarchies and asset attribute specifications is required.
• A good understanding of technologies used to support asset management (EAM, GIS, CAD, BIM, etc.) and a good understanding of asset based technologies.
• Direct experience using GIS desktop applications for geospatial data management is required.
• Understanding of linear referencing systems is preferred.
• Experience with smart data management and automation tools such as FME, Maximo Integration Framework, geoprocessing is preferred.
• Proven experience working within consulting or comparable industry roles project roles is required.
• Individual needs to be a strong team player – able to lead, support and has a ‘get it done’ attitude.
• Preferably a good understanding of the management of infrastructure and the challenges organizations face.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, with graduate degree preferred
• 7+ years’ experience in directly relevant endeavors
• Familiarity with one or more Enterprise Asset Management programs (e.g. Maximo, Infor, Trapeze)
• Proficient in ESRI GIS
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional IQ
• Must have authorization to immediately work in the United States
The role is based in Sacramento, CA with some travel across California. The candidate may be required to travel nationally on occasion.
