Position Description:

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida’s water resources, is seeking a GIS Analyst in support of the Data Collection Bureau. The successful candidate will perform as a geospatial analyst who will work closely with existing staff on District projects involving GIS data requests and analyses, ortho-imagery, seagrass and Land Use & Land Coverage (LULC), Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) data collection within the Mapping & GIS Section.

Essential Functions
The functions for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Measuring and assessing data quality
• Geospatial analyses and modeling
• GIS data creation and maintenance
• Write and maintain documentation including metadata and standard operating procedures
• Automating data processing and data distribution workflows
• Working with GIS Data Stewards to manage and publish data
• Participating in field survey, as needed

Additional Details
This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, out of the Brooksville, FL office. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.

Compensation: $39,894.40 - $44,870.80

Pay grade 109. Minimum to 25% annual rates of pay grade displayed. Starting pay will be based upon education and experience.

Qualifications

Education
Required
• Bachelors or better in Geography, Remote Sensing, or related field.

Preferred
• Masters or better.

Experience
Required
• Some data collection and/or data analysis related school or internship experience
• Submission of at least one writing sample such as a technical report, paper for presentation, thesis, or training documentation. Must be attached to application.

Preferred
• Experience with third-party LiDAR applications (LP360, GlobalMapper & MARS)
• Experience with GPS
• Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro
• 1 year: Data collection and/or data analysis related work experience
