Position Description:

The GIS Specialist will administer, maintain and continue development of the Company’s mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) programs; assist with the Company’s asset management program and provide basic support for other Company information system applications; prepare maps, plans, details, exhibits, and graphics using primarily Esri ArcGIS Software or other appropriate software.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Updates, maintains, and ensures the accuracy of telecommunications data model using GIS software.
Creates and maintains GIS maps and the associated GIS data including data review and data development.
Updates, maintains, and ensures the accuracy of equipment links for poles, transformers, addresses, etc.
Designs and performs complex spatial data analyses.
Provides training and technical support for internal personnel using GIS technology to aid them with their daily tasks.
Works with other GIS users within the company and communities we serve to maintain data integrity. Identify available datasets from government agencies and other business partners.
Performs field, archival, historical, and statistical research in support of department activities.
Creates highly readable, accurate, and aesthetically consistent maps displaying complex data analysis.
Interprets construction drawings and posts finalized as-built construction data to system GIS.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Responds regularly and promptly to work.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, computer science, or related field, preferred
1+ years of experience with Esri ArcGIS
Experience in the Telecommunications industry a plus
Experience with NISC MapWise software a plus
Experience with CAD software a plus
Interest or experience in other GIS tools and technologies
Hard working and self-driven
Able to meet goals and deadlines
Written and oral communications skills (including presentations), as well as listening and interpretation skills
Follow directions as outlined by Manager/Supervisor
