Position Description:


The Town of Glocester, Rhode Island, is seeking a part-time Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician to input, update and maintain GIS databases, coverages, layers, and linkages.
The successful candidate should have knowledge of GIS principles, spatial analysis, cartography, topography, geodatabases and addressing standards and proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps and related ESRI tools. Other qualifications include the ability to interpret maps, plats, development documents, aerial imagery and source materials, skill in data editing, QA/QC, geocoding, GPS data collection and troubleshooting projection and geometry issues.
Candidates must have the ability to maintain thorough documentation, organize records, and ensure data integrity and must manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain effective working relationships. Strong English written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences are required.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science or a related field and two or more years of experience in GIS maintenance, analysis, and applications support. An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may be considered.
The position pays $41.42 per hour, requires about eight hours of work per week and reports to the Town Planner. Most work may be done remotely with at least one day per month working in the Town Hall in Chepachet.
