Lands & Survey Department
SALARY: CI$58,380 - $78,516 PER ANNUM

Lands & Survey Department invites qualified applicants for the post of Senior GIS Analyst who is responsible for leading a team of 2 GIS Analysts and providing GIS expertise and project control in support of the national Geographic Information System that includes creating, updating, and maintaining numerous datasets of land information while testing, documenting and training users of GIS solutions developed within the department

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Manage and take technical responsibility for the spatial component and documentation of GIS development and system support projects, and proactively manage and participate in all phases of the development life cycle
• Perform spatial analysis and create information products utilizing GIS software, geoprocessing tools, and other processes
• Administer end-user licensing, training, support for GIS Software and tools developed within the department
• To have a comprehensive understanding of departmental procedures, data structures, data management, and business processes and the effort needed to support them, and to improve standards, policies, and procedures as needed
• Perform GIS data quality control of LIS production procedures to ensure continued confidence in the digital data and mapping products supplied to customers and held in the LIS
• Assist as needed with the department's Public Map Counter operation as requested by line management. Duties would include liaising with the general public and assisting with the viewing and printing map data and map products

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The post-holder must possess:
• a Bachelors degree in Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, or related subject plus 5 years experience OR an Associate Degree in Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science, or related subject, plus 10 years work related experience, 1 of which should be leading GIS projects preferably within a GIS mapping environment.
• This post is at the junior management level therefore a management qualification and / or experience is desirable but not essential so as to provide the post-holder with skills necessary for personnel management
• Knowledge & experience of ESRI software including ArcGIS and ArcView geographical information software and AutoCAD draughting software is essential.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills are essential, as are high levels of initiative, self-reliance and motivation
• High levels of knowledge of digital map production processes for cadastral, topographic, and miscellaneous plan preparation is essential.
• The post-holder should be able to work as part of a project team dedicated to providing integrated solutions to a wide range of users utilising the ESRI suite of products


The remuneration package for the successful candidate is offered without deductions. The Cayman Islands Government provides an additional 12% pension contribution and 100% health insurance coverage for the employee and their dependents.
