Position Description:
Are you looking to make a difference and join a highly motivated team working on issues critical to ensuring the safety and sustainability of California? The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety is seeking a Research Data Supervisor II to help enable data-informed decision making in the Data Analytics Division based in Sacramento to perform the following tasks:
•Perform bulk spatial data processing, updates, quality control, and database ingestion of utility data submissions.
•Manage a team of Research Data Specialists and Analysts to develop and implement maps, dashboards, Web Apps, and other tools for analyzing, viewing, and evaluating geographic, demographic, utility infrastructure, excavation, and other data in programmatic analyses of activities associated with wildfire risk mitigation and underground infrastructure safety.
•A consultant and advisor to management on data storage, performance, validation and QA/QC processes, and training non-technical staff to use spatial data products to perform additional workflows.
Desirable qualifications:
•Experience managing complex projects
•Experience managing multiple staff
•Experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and creating other tools in Esri environments
•Experience with development of data analysis and visualization tools with Python, including ArcGIS Python programming using ArcPy or ArcGIS API for Python
•Experience with data QA/QC processes and data cleaning
•Familiarity with automation using webhooks, Microsoft Power Automate, and other tools to integrate realtime or updating data
•Experience presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders, management, and subject matter experts
•Interest and enthusiasm for power systems, safety, and risk modeling

Required Qualifications:
•One year in the California state civil service performing data research-oriented duties in a class with a level of responsibility equivalent to that of Research Data Supervisor I, or the Research Data Specialist I; or
•Experience: Five years of professional data research-oriented experience which must have included responsibility for the determination of research data gathering and reporting design and methodology of a complete research project. (Research experience applied toward this pattern must include at least one year of experience performing duties with a level of responsibility equivalent to Research Data Supervisor I, or the Research Data Specialist I.)
