Position Description:

GIS Geodatabase Engineer

Experience: Minimum of 12 years working with GIS applications and 6 years of consistent familiarity with ESRI software.

Degree/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; DCWF qualification; a relevant Database Administrator (DBA) certification (e.g., MSSQL, PostgreSQL); and ESRI Enterprise Geodata Management Professional certification.

Clearance: Requires TS/SCI

Special Skill: This role requires senior-level expertise in the design, implementation, security, and management of enterprise-scale geodatabases. The engineer must be a subject matter expert in ESRI geodatabase technology and possess strong DBA skills in platforms like SQL Server or PostgreSQL. Core competencies include advanced spatial data modeling, automation of database processes with Python and SQL, performance optimization, and implementing robust backup and recovery procedures. A critical focus for this role is security hardening, including conducting vulnerability assessments and resolving security risks to protect critical data assets.
