Enterprise Maps is a boutique GIS consulting and managed services firm serving state, local government, and utility clients. We specialize in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, AWS infrastructure, and AI-augmented GIS workflows, and hold partner status with Esri, AWS, and Anthropic.

Role Summary
We're looking for a GIS Cloud Architect and Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise environments on AWS for our client base. This is a hands-on role spanning architecture decisions, hands-on server administration, database engineering, and automation — not a purely advisory position.

Responsibilities

Architect and deploy ArcGIS Enterprise deployments on AWS (EC2, RDS/self-managed SQL Server, Auto Scaling Groups, VPC networking, load balancers)
Administer and patch ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and Data Store components across client environments
Design and maintain enterprise geodatabases (SQL Server and PostgreSQL), including versioning strategy (traditional and branch)
Plan and execute environment promotions (Staging → Production), version upgrades, and disaster recovery configurations
Build automation for infrastructure and operational tasks (e.g., ASG scale-out/scale-in server registration, health monitoring, patch validation)
Support Utility Network implementations where applicable, including data model design and network topology configuration
Integrate AI/LLM-based workflows into GIS pipelines (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Claude) for document-to-feature conversion and other automation use cases
Produce clear technical documentation and client-facing deliverables (architecture diagrams, runbooks, test plans)

Required Qualifications

4+ years of hands-on experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise (Server, Portal, Data Store) in production
Strong working knowledge of AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, RDS or self-managed SQL/Postgres, IAM, Auto Scaling)
Experience with enterprise geodatabase engineering (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL), including versioning and replication concepts
Comfortable scripting/automating with Python and/or PowerShell
Solid understanding of GIS service publishing, federation, and REST APIs
Excellent written communication — this role interfaces directly with client stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ArcGIS Utility Network implementation or migration
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
Familiarity with LLM/AI integration into geospatial workflows
Esri or AWS certifications
