Company Background:​ RedCastle Resources is a small, employee-friendly company that provides geospatial and information technology support to natural resource management agencies throughout the country and around the world. We specialize in the analysis of remote sensing, ecological, and other geospatial data, focusing on technical expertise and communicating with natural resource managers and other subject matter experts. The majority of our staff provide support through contracts with the USDA Forest Service, assisting National Forests, Regional and Washington Offices, USFS Research, International Programs, and partner federal agencies to use advanced geospatial data and technology for improved mapping, inventorying, and monitoring of natural resources.

Position Description: ​RedCastle Resources is seeking qualified individuals for one or more entry level Remote Sensing Analyst I positions to assist with data preparation, image interpretation and analysis, geospatial modeling, and training development. Successful applicants will work with experienced RedCastle Resources analysts on a variety of projects ranging from large area existing land cover and land cover change mapping workflows, to raster and vector modeling using GIS and image-derived data sets. The Remote Sensing Analyst I is an entry level position for someone who has an educational or technical background in the Geospatial Sciences, but limited work experience. The Analyst I will assist with the development and implementation of geospatial analytical procedures, and provide periodic status reports to RedCastle leadership. The following technical competencies are desired,

● Experience with image analysis and GIS software such as ERDAS Imagine, ESRIís ArcGIS and AGOL, QGIS, and R
● Familiarity with remote sensing image analysis workflows
● Familiarity with interpretation techniques using imagery from satellite, aircraft, and drones
● Aptitude for manipulating geospatial data in a GIS
● Understanding of remote sensing and GIS concepts including projections, rectification and others
● Demonstrated interest in natural resource management problems and their solutions
● Good written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in remote sensing and GIS with good current working knowledge of geospatial software. The minimum degree requirement is a BA/BS in a natural resource or technical area such as environmental science, forestry, biology, soil science, geography/GIS, or ecology, with coursework in geospatial technologies. Successful candidates are expected to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
