Job Responsibilities –
As a member of this team you will contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
-Working in a team environment under light supervision to gather, compile and analyze transportation demographic, economic, land use and/or environmental data including traffic and transit counts, speed and flow data, survey results etc. to assist in the planning for existing and proposed transportation systems focusing on transit (bus, rail, ferry etc.), complete streets (bicycle/pedestrians), parking management, strategic planning, multimodal transportation, equity and environmental and economic impacts.
-Conducting research and manipulating large data sets to analyze the performance of existing and planned future transportation facilities and services using analytical tools such as GIS and database analytics.
-Leveraging transportation systems, models, simulations and data to prepare basic to moderate complexity studies of existing or proposed transportation system including: new systems; upgrades or updates to existing systems; re-routing of systems; reviews of existing systems; etc.
-Creating transportation surveys, exhibits, and other meeting materials as necessary, to identify areas of public concern and facilitate public and stakeholder input.
-Preparing technical memorandums, reports, fact sheets, handouts, and graphics to help convey the results of technical analyses.
-Reviewing proposed transportation project sites for alignment with draft designs and plans.
-Collaborating with engineers to research, analyze or resolve transportation conceptual/schematic design issues.
-Providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
-Mentoring more junior staff and developing them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Job Requirements –
-Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban, community or regional planning or related discipline.
-Experience: 3 years of related experience.
-Travel: Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
