We are a fast-paced team that owns the enterprise-level GIS platform, applications, data, and services for Weyerhaeuser. In this role, you are a member of the GIS Services and IT team to power innovation across Weyerhaeuser using imagery, elevation, and other raster products. You will work alongside data scientists to develop geospatial analytic and machine learning (ML) products that scale to Weyerhaeuser’s immense footprint. You will lead the architecture of our 15TB imagery server that includes two decades of forest history. As the product manager of our UAV software platform, you will help our distributed team of UAV/drone pilots find new business value. You will seek out and contribute tactical ideas to improve existing processes across our GIS portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities:
•Partner with Weyerhaeuser subject matter specialists to assess, build and configure, and support ageo spatial data analytics platform in AWS that maximizes public imagery, private imagery and LiDAR, and Weyerhaeuser’s enterprise GIS data to make critical strategic and tactical business decisions.
•Use this platform and your software engineering background to deploy advanced analytical geospatial products developed by Weyerhaeuser data scientists.
•Handle the UAV software platform as a product, including collecting requirements, working with business partners to estimate Return on investment (value) for enhancements, coordinating with the software vendor, and providing end-user support.
•Provide architectural guidance for Weyerhaeuser’s ArcGIS Image Server including storage of imagery collections, mosaic datasets, and infrastructure.
•Under general mentorship perform sophisticated GIS analyses, problem solving, implementation, and documentation of GIS solutions.
•Deliver small and medium GIS projects, acting as the single point of contact for those projects.
•Collaborate with other IT teams to advance Weyerhaeuser’s Connected Forest vision, including incorporating GIS technology and integration into the Forest Management, Wood Flow Planning, Transportation, and Contract/Settlement systems.


Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
•Minimum of four (4) to six
(6) years of progressive, relevant GIS/IT experience. •Actively working to learn new skills in order to stay ahead of with changing technologies and industry trends and shares knowledge proactively with others.
•Able to apply business knowledge to develop and deliver innovative, beneficial improvements
•Excellent oral and written communication skills, skilled in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
•Excellent collaboration skills in working together with others across all IT segments
•Demonstrable ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure; as well as the ability to lead a diverse workload and work under time constraints.
•This position requires occasional travel up to 20%.

Technical Qualifications:
•Knowledge of standard methodologies for leading raster and other remotely sensed data including satellite and fixed wing imagery, UAV mosaics, and LiDAR for an enterprise environment.
•Possess senior level GIS technical knowledge and skills including geo-database design, spatial relationships, scripting.
•Proficient with the ESR IArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, Server, Enterprise/Portal, and Image Server.
•Fluency with public cloud services (AWS) and CI/CD tools.
•Fluency with Python and/orR.
•Ability to write T-SQL statements to query and analyze data.

Highly Valued:
•Familiarity with automating batch processes in AWS using AWS Batch, SageMaker, or similar technologies.
•Familiarity using spot instances, containers to auto-scale processes in AWS.
•Experience with the GDAL geospatial library and processing satellite imagery, including LandSat.
•Experience deploying AI/ML models in the cloud.
•Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks, Javascript, JSON, GraphQL.
•Experience with Drone Deploy.
•Familiarity with forestry and land title concepts and datasets.
•Experience leading small to medium projects and products.
•Solid understanding of ITIL/ITSM principles and practices.
